Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is a leading distance learning institution in Pakistan. It provides education from matric to PhD to the masses. Students cannot afford to make payments as only limited series of transactions is available. They are unable to access digital banking services, or struggle to use mobile payment apps.

• AIOU must deploy more means of payments such as direct deposit at post office / bank counters and e-wallets.
• Students whose online payment ensured registration for WTMC can ask friends or family members to help them access online payment.
• AIOU needs to educate how to make payment in several steps by using varied payment methods.

4. Delayed Payment Confirmation

Many students complain that even after successfully paying their fees, their payment status remains “Pending” on the AIOU portal for several days. This delay creates anxiety and confusion, especially close to enrollment deadlines.

Solution:

• Save the payment receipt and follow the portal for updates.
• In case the payment is not confirmed in 48 hours, lodge complaint at AIOU helpline with evidence of payment.

7. Deadline Issues and Late Fee Charges

With multiple payment problems, students frequently miss deadlines and are penalized with late fees. Some fail to know about the last date of fee without late fee.

Solution:

• AIOU must introduce SMS & email reminders as deadline approaches.
• You must keep visiting the website of AIOU to read the updates of the date of submission of fees.
• Consideration should also be given to protracting the deadlines in the event of widespread technical problems.

8. Lack of Awareness About Fee Payment Process

A lot of new students get stuck in the fee submitting process because of improper support. Others do not even know where and how to pay their fees. And that has been causing confusion and non-delivery of their printed certificates.

Solution:

• AIOU should create detailed video tutorials and FAQs explaining the payment process.
• Orientation sessions should be conducted for new students to guide them on fee submission procedures.
• The university should collaborate with banks and mobile wallet services to offer guidance on making successful transactions.
